How to run ads on Meesho, and how to check break-even before you spend
How Meesho Ads charge, which ad type to start with, and the break-even sum to do before you spend. Illustrative numbers only, and no promised results.

Key takeaways
- Meesho charges ads per engagement click (a catalog click, a share or a wishlist), not per view, and recovers the cost from your payouts, as read on 14 October 2026.
- Break-even ROAS, the sales you need for every rupee of ads, is your selling price divided by your profit per order before ads. In the illustrative example below, Rs 420 and Rs 70 give 6.0.
- Test one catalog with a budget you can afford to lose, and write down your stop rule before you start.
- Ads do not guarantee orders. Budgets, limits and eligibility change, so confirm them in Advertisement in your own Supplier Panel.
How to run ads on Meesho: open Advertisement in the Supplier Panel, create a campaign for one catalog and set a budget you can afford to lose. Meesho charges per engagement click, not per view, and deducts it from payouts (as read on 14 October 2026). Work out your break-even return on ad spend first. Ads do not guarantee orders.
How do Meesho Ads work, and what do they cost?
Meesho Ads let you promote a catalog so more shoppers see it. As read on 14 October 2026, Meesho's Ads page says you are charged on an engagement click: a click to the catalog, a share or a wishlist. Views alone cost nothing. The cost is recovered from your payouts instead of being paid upfront, and the deductions appear under Payments, in Ads Cost.
Two things follow. No invoice arrives, so the Ads Cost line is your only reminder of what you spent. And every billed click counts whether or not it ends in an order, so your real cost is the spend divided by the orders, not the cost per click.
Meesho's official channel (video of 4 September 2025) describes two ad types: a CPC campaign, where you set the cost per click, and an ROI-based ad, where you set a target ROI and a daily budget.
| CPC campaign | ROI-based ad | |
|---|---|---|
| You set | The cost per click, and a budget | A target ROI and a daily budget |
| Catalogs | You choose them | Meesho can pick the best ones, or you choose |
| Check first | Cost per order (cost per click ÷ share of clicks that become orders) must stay under your profit per order | Your target ROI must sit at or above break-even, once you know how Meesho defines ROI |
For a first test, a CPC campaign on one catalog you chose is easier to reason about, because you control what a click costs. Try an ROI-based ad once you trust your break-even number.
There is no fixed price to quote. The cost depends on what you set and on the clicks you get. Meesho's Ads page also names a minimum budget, Ad Credits for eligible sellers, a Recommended Budget and Auto CPC. We print no amounts because they change, and we could not confirm how the last two are worked out. Meesho does not know your costs, so check any suggestion against your break-even. For the other deductions in Payments, see Meesho seller fees and charges explained.
How to run your first Meesho ad campaign, step by step
Follow the labels you see in your own panel, because menu names change. What matters is the order: sum first, spend second.
- Work out break-even. Find your profit per order before ads, then your break-even ROAS (next section). If profit per order is thin or negative, fix the price or cost first. Ads only add to the bill.
- Pick one catalog. Choose one that is Active in Inventory, in stock and healthy on margin, returns and price (checklist below).
- Open Advertisement and start a new campaign. Meesho's documentation calls the option Create New Campaign.
- Choose the ad type. For a first test, use a CPC campaign on the catalog you picked and set a cost per click that leaves room under your profit per order.
- Set a budget you can afford to lose. If Ad Credits are on offer, read their terms first and use them on this test, but judge the result as if you had paid, because credit runs out. Write your stop rule down before you start.
- Review every week. Set the campaign's results against Ads Cost under Payments, then keep, change or stop, as in the weekly check below.
How do you calculate ROI or ROAS for Meesho ads?
ROAS, return on ad spend, is the sales your ads bring divided by what you spent on them. Break-even ROAS is the level at which the ads just pay for themselves. If you were looking for a Meesho ads ROI calculator, the sum has four short lines, and the free Meesho profit calculator does the first one for you.
- Profit per order before ads = selling price − product, packing and shipping cost − GST − the expected cost of returns and RTO (return to origin: an order that comes back undelivered). In the calculator, set Ad spend to 0 in the Advanced tab and read Your profit.
- That profit is the most you can spend on ads per order. Spend more and the order loses money.
- Break-even ROAS = selling price ÷ profit per order before ads.
- Your real ROAS = sales the campaign brought ÷ the ad cost under Payments, in Ads Cost. Above break-even, the ads paid for themselves. Below it, they did not.
The ROI tile in our calculator is profit as a share of product cost, not return on ad spend. Meesho's panel has its own ROI figure and a target ROI field. We could not read how Meesho defines it, including whether it counts orders that are later cancelled or returned, so check your own ROAS against Payments before you trust a target. To find the bar for your margin, use the table.
| Profit before ads, per Rs 100 of price | Break-even ROAS |
|---|---|
| Rs 10 | 10.0 |
| Rs 15 | 6.7 |
| Rs 20 | 5.0 |
| Rs 25 | 4.0 |
| Rs 30 | 3.3 |
| Rs 40 | 2.5 |

A worked example: does this kurti pay for ads?
In this illustrative case, a Rs 1,400 test pays for itself only if it brings at least 20 orders. Say a kurti sells for Rs 420. Every figure here is a round number, not a Meesho rate or a typical result. The sums follow the free calculator: enter them there, with Return shipping at 100 and Damaged returns at 0 in the Advanced tab, and you get the same Rs 70.
| Line | Illustrative figure | How it is worked out |
|---|---|---|
| Selling price | Rs 420 | The price the order is placed at |
| Product, packing and shipping cost | Rs 320 | Everything you spend to make, pack and ship one unit |
| GST inside the price | Rs 20 | Say the rate is 5 per cent, taken out of the price as the calculator does: 420 × 5 ÷ 105 |
| Expected cost of returns | Rs 10 | Say 1 order in 10 comes back and each return costs Rs 100 to ship |
| Profit per order before ads | Rs 70 | 420 − 320 − 20 − 10 |
| Break-even ROAS | 6.0 | 420 ÷ 70 |
Now plan the test. Say the kurti gets Rs 1,400 of ad budget. At Rs 70 profit per order, the ads need 20 orders (1,400 ÷ 70), or Rs 8,400 of sales, just to break even. Say a click costs Rs 5, an assumed figure. Rs 70 buys 14 clicks, so at least 1 billable click in 14 must become an order.
| Orders the ads bring | Sales | Profit before ads | After Rs 1,400 of ads | ROAS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Rs 4,200 | Rs 700 | Loss of Rs 700 | 3.0 |
| 20 | Rs 8,400 | Rs 1,400 | Break-even | 6.0 |
| 35 | Rs 14,700 | Rs 2,450 | Profit of Rs 1,050 | 10.5 |
Read the result with care. Some of those orders may have come without ads, so ad-driven orders can overstate what the ads added. Treat break-even as the minimum bar. Shoppers who arrive through ads may also return more: at 2 returns in 10, profit before ads falls to Rs 60 and break-even ROAS rises to 7.0. And a budget that buys only a handful of clicks says very little, so widen the window instead of drawing a conclusion.
Which catalogs should you advertise first?
Start with one catalog that already looks healthy. Ads send more shoppers to a page. They do not fix the page. Check these first:
- Margin. The catalog with the most profit per order before ads has the lowest break-even ROAS.
- Stock and dispatch. Make sure you can fill and ship the extra orders on time.
- Returns. Open the Quality Dashboard to see why customers return it. A higher return rate raises your break-even.
- Price. Meesho's Price Recommendation tool has a comparison view (as read on 14 October 2026). A price above similar catalogs wastes clicks.
- Photos, title and rating. A shopper judges them in a moment. Weak ones turn paid clicks into nothing.
Meesho's ad setup also lists recommended catalogs. Meesho does not know your costs, so test each one against your break-even. For fixes that ads cannot make, read how to increase sales on Meesho and why sales grow but profit falls.
What should you check every week?
Pick one day, open Advertisement and Payments, and set the spend against the orders. Decide your stop rule before you launch, for example: stop when ROAS stays below break-even after a full test window. Festival sale weeks change order volumes for every seller, so compare like with like.
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Many clicks, few orders | Shoppers look but do not buy | Check price against similar catalogs, photos, rating and stock before adding budget |
| ROAS below break-even | Each ad order loses money | Pause, or cut the cost per click or target. If it stays below, stop and fix margin first |
| ROAS near break-even | The ads earn you nothing | Do not scale. Change one thing at a time and test again |
| ROAS above break-even, returns steady | The ads pay for themselves here | Keep going. Raise the budget in small steps and recheck next week |
| Orders up, returns up | Profit before ads has fallen | Redo the break-even with the new return rate |
What if Meesho Ads says weekly limit reached, or shows no impressions?
These are the gaps we could not close from outside the panel. We would rather list them than guess.
| Question | What we found | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly limit reached | No Meesho page we could read explains this message | The notice beside the campaign in Advertisement, then Notices, then a Support ticket with a screenshot |
| No impressions or no spend | No public explanation | Is the catalog Active in Inventory, in stock and the campaign running? If so, raise a Support ticket |
| Ads without a regular GSTIN | Not verified, so we will not guess | Whether Advertisement appears and works in your panel, then a Support ticket |
| Minimum budget and credit amounts | Meesho names them, but they change, so we print none | The budget and Ad Credits fields in Advertisement |
| How Meesho defines ROI | Not stated on any page we could read | Meesho's Learning Hub, then Support |
| Auto CPC and Recommended Budget | Named on Meesho's Ads page, not explained there | The help text beside each option |
For Meesho's own instructions, use the Meesho Learning Hub and the official Sell on Meesho channel, which has a playlist called Maximize Sales with Meesho Ads. If Advertisement is missing or locked in your panel, ask Support.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
01How do I run ads on Meesho?
Open Advertisement in your Supplier Panel, start a new campaign, choose a CPC campaign or an ROI-based ad, pick the catalog and set a budget. Before that, work out your break-even ROAS from your profit per order, and start with one catalog. Menu names change, so follow the labels you see in the panel.
02How much do Meesho ads cost?
It depends on what you set. On a CPC campaign you choose the cost per click. On an ROI-based ad you set a target ROI and a daily budget. Meesho bills engagement clicks, not views, and takes the money from payouts, as read on 14 October 2026. Check the current minimum budget in Advertisement, because it changes.
03Do Meesho ads increase orders?
They can bring more shoppers to a catalog, but Meesho does not promise orders, and we found no published figure for how many clicks become orders. Ads cannot fix a high price, weak photos, poor ratings or no stock. Test one catalog and measure the orders against your break-even.
04How do I calculate ROI or ROAS for Meesho ads?
ROAS is the sales your ads bring divided by the ad spend. Break-even ROAS is your selling price divided by your profit per order before ads: for Rs 420 and Rs 70 (illustrative), it is 6.0. Check how Meesho defines the ROI it shows before you compare the two.
05Can I run ads without GST?
We have not verified this, so we will not guess. Check whether Advertisement appears and works in your own Supplier Panel. If it is missing or locked, raise a ticket from Support and ask whether your account can run ads. Get Meesho's answer before you change your registration for the sake of ads.
06Why does Meesho Ads say weekly limit reached?
We could not find a Meesho page that explains this message, so we cannot say which limit it means. Read the notice beside the campaign in Advertisement, check Notices, and raise a Support ticket with a screenshot if it is still unclear. Do not raise your budget just to clear a warning you do not understand.
07How do I use free ad credit on Meesho?
Meesho's Ads page mentions Ad Credits for eligible sellers, with terms, as read on 14 October 2026. Amounts, eligibility and expiry change, so read them in your panel. Use credit on one catalog that passes your break-even check, and judge the result as if you had paid, because the credit runs out.
