Meesho return claim for sellers: steps, proof and video rules

Meesho's own SOP, step by step: accept the parcel, mark it tampered if it is, film the unboxing and raise the ticket. Dated, with the conflicts flagged.

Key takeaways

  • Accept every returned or RTO parcel addressed to you. Meesho's 2023 SOP says a rejected shipment is marked disposed and cannot be claimed.
  • If the parcel looks tampered, write Tampered/Disputed on the proof of delivery as you accept it. Without that remark, the SOP treats it as intact.
  • Open the parcel only on camera, in one unbroken video, then raise the ticket under Support within the SOP's 7 days.
  • The SOP is from March 2023. It ties RTO claims to Meesho-branded packaging, and Meesho's pages disagree on packaging, so confirm the window, form and packaging rule in your panel.

A Meesho return claim is a Support ticket you raise when a returned or RTO parcel arrives wrong, damaged, used or with items missing. Meesho's returns SOP, effective 15 March 2023, says to accept every parcel, write Tampered/Disputed on the proof of delivery if the parcel looks tampered, film the unboxing, then raise the ticket within 7 days.

Rocket Listing's Meesho seller tools include free calculators and an extension that fills the single-catalog form; the extension does nothing on Returns or Support.

What is a Meesho return claim, and which problems can you claim for?

Meesho's January 2023 returns video says Meesho compensates sellers for some issues and calls them claims. The SOP names four: wrong item, damaged item, used item and missing quantity, on an RTO (an undelivered parcel that comes back) or a customer return (RVP, reverse pickup). A return that comes back as sent is no claim; Meesho seller fees explained covers its cost.

Which Support option fits what arrived (2023 SOP screenshot, read on 15 October 2026; the SOP marks only the first four as claim reasons)

How to raise a return claim on Meesho as a seller, step by step

Form details come from the SOP's March 2023 screenshots, so your live form may differ.

  1. Accept the parcel at the door, tampered or intact, and follow the OTP-verified delivery process used for the digital proof of delivery (POD).
  2. If the parcel looks tampered, make sure Tampered/Disputed is on the POD as you accept it. With no remark, the SOP treats the parcel as intact.
  3. Keep it closed, then film the opening in one take. The SOP does not treat a parcel opened before filming as a genuine claim.
  4. Open Support, then Returns/RTO & Exchange, and pick the matching option.
  5. Fill in Raise a Ticket. The SOP's screenshot shows Issue, Sub Order Number, State of the packet (Intact or Tampered; the SOP text says shipment condition), Barcode Image, Product Image and Reverse Waybill, with only the barcode image not marked required. Add the unboxing video too.
  6. Submit, then follow the ticket under My Tickets.

Meesho's January 2023 returns video says claims show under Returns/RTO Orders, View Claims, as approved, rejected or open, with a rejection's reason in a Last Update column, and that open claims usually take 2 to 7 days. Look for the same view in your panel.

Is the parcel tampered or intact? The SOP's own test

Tampered or intact, as the SOP defines it (read on 15 October 2026)
What you see at the doorCounts as
Outer packaging visibly torn, damaged or in bad conditionTampered
Extra tape on the outer packaging (the logistics partner's own branded tape is excepted)Tampered
A label that looks cut and pasted from other shipmentsTampered
No visible cuts or damage on the outer packagingNot tampered
Outer packaging intact, no extra tape, but the forward waybill (label) is missingNot tampered

Accept the parcel either way. For any tampered sign, make sure Tampered/Disputed is on the POD and pick Tampered on the ticket; otherwise pick Intact. The SOP calls the remark mandatory for approving a tampered claim. It is made while you accept the parcel, so brief whoever signs for your parcels (our tip).

How to film the unboxing video for a Meesho return claim

  • Open the packaging on camera. A parcel opened before recording is not treated as a genuine claim.
  • Show all sides of the parcel clearly, and highlight the tampered part.
  • Highlight the barcode while showing all sides, for RTO and RVP claims alike.
  • Keep the label in view so the AWB number and order ID can be read.
  • Record in one stretch, showing every action. Meesho's January 2023 returns video adds that edited videos with cuts are rejected.
  • Move slowly and steadily.

Our tips, not Meesho's: start recording before you touch the tape, and keep the original file.

How many days do you have to raise a Meesho return claim?

Within 7 days after the shipment is delivered to you, says the SOP (as read on 15 October 2026). Meesho's January 2023 returns video agrees: only tickets raised within 7 days of a return are considered. So the clock appears to start when the return reaches you. We could not confirm whether these are calendar days or whether your form still applies the limit, so raise the ticket the day you film.

Does packaging decide a Meesho RTO claim? Where Meesho's pages disagree

Under the SOP's RTO claim policy, claims are open only if Meesho-branded packaging was used, and RTO parcels without it count as Intact. It says this for RTO claims, not customer returns. Other Meesho pages disagree.

What Meesho's own pages say about packaging and claims (read on 15 October 2026)
Meesho sourceWhat it says
Returns SOP, effective 15 March 2023RTO claims need Meesho-branded packaging; without it an RTO counts as Intact.
Branded-packets video, April 2023Only RTO claims for orders sent in unique barcoded packets are investigated, from 1 January 2023.
Learning Hub packing lesson, archive copy of 6 August 2024No branding on packaging or tape, durable but not transparent, no MRP. It does not mention claims.
'BP-TP Explained' video, 30 September 2025Lists RTO claim approvals only with BP-TP (branded and transparent packaging) as a benefit. A creator-led promotion, not a promise.

The SOP, the April 2023 video and the 2025 BP-TP video tie RTO claims to branded packaging; the 2024 lesson says plain packaging. We cannot tell which rule your claims are judged by, so check your panel before buying packaging in bulk, and ask Support if a claim is refused on this ground.

Meesho RTO claim not approved: what should you do?

We cannot see your ticket, and the SOP says logistics partners validate each case, so this only finds a gap on your side. Read the reason first (the Last Update column, per Meesho's January 2023 video), then check:

  1. The parcel was accepted. A rejected shipment cannot be claimed.
  2. For a tampered parcel, Tampered/Disputed was on the POD.
  3. The Intact or Tampered choice on the ticket matches the POD.
  4. The parcel was unopened when filming began, and the video is one unbroken take.
  5. Every side, the barcode, the AWB number and the order ID can be read in it.
  6. The Support option fits what arrived, and the ticket went in within the window.
  7. For an RTO, the packaging met the SOP's branded-packaging rule.

If every point holds and the claim was still closed, look for a way to reopen or recheck it on the ticket. Meesho's November 2021 Support video has a chapter on reopening old tickets, so look for that option. Meesho's 2024 and 2025 claim videos say it rechecks closed tickets but not how a seller asks. Use the option your ticket offers, with the same proof. Meesho's October 2023 video also describes a Claims Protection Plan that reviews rejected tickets, with a fee only on customer returns; we could not confirm it still exists, so ask Support. For fewer bad returns, see how to reduce returns and RTO on Meesho.

What does a bad return cost if no claim pays? A worked example

Say a saree costs ₹350 all in and sells for ₹520 with GST at 5% inside the price. Say 10% of orders come back, each costing ₹90 in return shipping. All numbers are made up. Only the share of returned items that arrive unsellable changes: the Damaged returns box on the calculator's Advanced tab.

Illustrative profit per order, made-up numbers
Returned items that arrive unsellableCost per order (₹)Profit per order (₹)
0%0.00136.24
5%1.75134.49
20%7.00129.24
40%14.00122.24

In the example, 2 of every 10 returns come back unsellable at 20%: ₹700 on 100 orders, or ₹7 an order. A successful claim can shrink that line, but the calculator does not model claims, and no Meesho page we could read says what an approved claim pays. Try your own numbers in the Meesho profit calculator, and read why sales grow but profit falls or why Meesho sellers quit.

Meesho return claim kaise kare: short Hinglish recap

Meesho me return claim kaise kare, ya Meesho RTO claim kaise kare? Ye 2023 ke SOP par based hai, isliye form aur window panel mein check karein.

  • Parcel accept karein, tampered lage tab bhi. Reject kiya gaya shipment 'disposed' mark ho jata hai aur uspar claim raise nahi kar sakte.
  • Parcel tampered lage to accept karte samay POD mein Tampered/Disputed remark likhein. Remark na ho to parcel Intact maana jata hai.
  • Parcel camera ke saamne, ek hi take mein kholein. Saare sides, barcode, AWB number aur order ID dikhne chahiye.
  • Support, phir Returns/RTO & Exchange mein sahi option chunein. Sub Order Number, images, video daalein aur Intact ya Tampered chunein.
  • SOP ke hisaab se parcel milne ke 7 din ke andar ticket raise karein. Packaging ka rule bhi panel mein dekhein. Claim approve hoga ya nahi, koi guide nahi bata sakta.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

01

How do I raise a return claim on Meesho as a seller?

Follow Meesho's returns SOP (effective 15 March 2023): accept the parcel, make sure Tampered/Disputed is on the proof of delivery if the parcel looks tampered, film the unboxing in one take, then raise the ticket under Support, Returns/RTO & Exchange with the sub-order number, images, video and the Intact or Tampered choice.

02

How many days do I have to raise a Meesho return claim?

The SOP says within 7 days after the shipment is delivered, as read on 15 October 2026, and Meesho's January 2023 returns video agrees. Both are old, so confirm the window in your live form and raise the ticket the day you film.

03

What should I write in a Meesho wrong return claim description?

The SOP lists evidence, not wording: sub-order number, video, images and the Intact or Tampered choice. Its 2023 form screenshot shows no description box, though it is cut off below the waybill field. If your form has one, state what you sent, what arrived and what the video shows, and nothing the video does not show.

04

Does Meesho need branded packaging for an RTO claim?

The SOP says RTO claims are open only when Meesho-branded packaging was used, and counts RTO parcels without it as Intact. Meesho's later videos tie claims to branded packets, but an archived 2024 lesson says use unbranded packaging. Read the packaging rule in your panel.

05

My Meesho RTO claim was not approved. What should I do?

Read the reason on the claim first; Meesho's January 2023 video says it shows in the Last Update column. Then check the SOP's points: parcel accepted, POD remark made, parcel unopened until filming, one unbroken video, readable label, right option, inside the window. No guide can promise a reversal.
