How to set price on Meesho: Transfer Price, Price Recommendation and a margin check
Start from what reaches your bank. Transfer Price, the Price Recommendation tool and a margin check, with a worked example in made-up numbers.

Key takeaways
- Set the price from the money that reaches your bank: Meesho's Transfer Price, the amount credited after one unit sells.
- Meesho's Price Recommendation tool lets you accept, edit or reject a suggested price and shows the Transfer Price. Suggestions are based on price drops, so check your margin first.
- In our made-up example a ₹300 Transfer Price leaves ₹80 per order, ten more points of returns cost ₹10, and a 20% margin needs ₹275.
- We could not open Meesho's live Supplier Panel, so tool names come from its videos and an archived lesson. Trust what your own panel shows.
How to set price on Meesho: start from the amount that will reach your bank, which Meesho calls the Transfer Price, then subtract your product cost, returns and ads. Enter a price only if the margin still holds at a worse return rate than you expect. Treat Meesho's Price Recommendation as a comparison, not a promise.
We make Meesho seller tools, including a free profit calculator, but every sum here also works on paper.
How to set price on Meesho: five steps from cost to price
- Add up your all-in cost for one unit: the product and its packaging.
- Read the Transfer Price for the price you are considering, beside each product in Meesho's Price Recommendation tool.
- Subtract what each order costs you later: return shipping, damaged stock and ads, plus GST if the credited amount still contains tax you owe.
- Test a worse return rate than you hope for and find your floor, the lowest price that leaves the margin you need. The Meesho profit calculator has a Price for a target margin box for this.
- Compare with similar products, then accept, edit or keep your price. Check real payouts and repeat when a cost changes.
What is Transfer Price on Meesho, and what does it leave out?
Transfer Price is the amount Meesho transfers to your bank account after one product sells, per the descriptions of its own Price Recommendation videos (November 2021 and April 2023, read on 15 October 2026). It is separate from the Meesho Price you type into the form, and it is not your profit. Treat returns, RTO (parcels that come back undelivered) and ads as costs on top of it; Meesho seller fees and charges explained lists where to read them. We found no public transfer price list, so your panel is the only source for your product.
| Question | What we found | What to check yourself |
|---|---|---|
| Is commission taken out? | Meesho's official channel describes selling at 0% commission. | Nothing to subtract, but other charges can apply: read your Payments tab. |
| Is shipping already taken out? | We found no public page saying if shipping charges are already taken out. | Compare one real order in the Payments tab with the Transfer Price you saw. |
| Is tax in it? | We found no public page saying whether tax is in it. A Hinglish Meesho video from August 2024 with Non-GST Alert in its title says it explains how the bank settlement amount is worked out and how GST and TCS affect profit. | Watch it, then ask your accountant. |
How does the Meesho Price Recommendation tool work?
Meesho's videos tell sellers to click the Price Recommendation tab on the left panel, and a screenshot in its March 2023 returns SOP shows it in that menu. It has Overview and Accepted tabs, a Search bar and a comparison view (View Comparison, or Compare Price in the 2023 video). Overview and Accepted show the growth in orders and sales that Meesho credits to prices you accepted, a figure to set against your own counts.
Steps for one product, per Meesho's 2023 video:
- Open Price Recommendation, pick a catalog and read each product's current price, recommended price and Transfer Price. Current Stock and Average Orders per Day sit beside new recommendations.
- Click Edit to change the price with the slider or by typing it. The Edit view shows the Transfer Price for the price you set, so stop when it clears your floor, then click Update Price.
- To take Meesho's price as it is, tick the product, click Accept, then Confirm and Update Price. Reject asks for a reason.
A worked example: from Transfer Price to profit per order
Say the tool shows a Transfer Price of ₹300 for a product that costs ₹200 to buy or make and pack. Assume 20% of orders come back, each return costs ₹80 in return shipping, and 10% of returned units are too damaged to resell. GST, RTO and ads are set to 0. Every number is made up and round; the sums use the formulas of the free Meesho profit calculator.
| Line | ₹ per order | How it is worked out |
|---|---|---|
| Transfer Price (credited per sale) | 300.00 | Entered as the selling price |
| Product and packaging cost | 200.00 | Your all-in cost for one unit |
| Returns and damaged stock | 20.00 | 16.00 return shipping (20% of orders × ₹80) plus 4.00 damaged stock (20% of orders × 10% damaged × ₹200) |
| Profit per order | 80.00 | About 26.7% of the Transfer Price |
| Break-even Transfer Price | 220.00 | Below this, every order loses money |
The calculator counts return shipping and damaged stock but not the profit lost on refunded sales, so read this example's ₹80 as a best case, more so as returns rise. How to calculate profit on Meesho explains why.
Now work backwards. In the calculator's Price for a target margin box, a 20% margin needs ₹275.00 in this example and a 25% margin needs ₹293.33. At 30% returns, this example needs ₹287.50 for a 20% margin, which is why you test a worse return rate. These are Transfer Prices, not form prices; the Edit view shows which price reaches them. Meesho's videos say the tool lists catalogs that have a recommendation, so a product may not appear; then treat your first price as a test and compare it with a real payout. To repeat this table, enter the inputs above with GST at 0.
How price, returns and ads move your profit
| What changes | Profit per order (₹) | Margin |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing: ₹300, 20% returns, no ads | 80.00 | 26.7% |
| Transfer Price falls to ₹280 | 60.00 | 21.4% |
| Returns rise to 30% | 70.00 | 23.3% |
| Ads cost 5% of the price | 65.00 | 21.7% |
| ₹280, 30% returns and 5% ads together | 36.00 | 12.9% |
In this example a ₹20 lower Transfer Price leaves ₹60, ten more points of returns leave ₹70, ads at 5% leave ₹65, and all three together leave ₹36, under half of ₹80. Nobody can promise that a lower price wins more orders. How to increase sales on Meesho shows how many extra orders a cut must win back.
Should you accept the price Meesho recommends, or set your own?
Accept it only when the Transfer Price at that price clears your floor. Meesho's 2023 video says recommendations are based on price drops from the price you set. No source we found shows what a given seller will gain.
| What you see | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The Transfer Price at the suggested price is above your floor | Accept, then check a few real payouts | The margin holds before any extra orders |
| The Transfer Price is below your floor | Edit the price up until it clears the floor, or Reject and give a reason | Margin falls short, and below break-even each order loses money |
| View Comparison shows a cheaper rival | Check it is the same product: fabric, sizes, photos and ratings | Lookalikes can differ, and copying a price you cannot afford loses money |
For rival prices, search your product on meesho.com and read the top listings. Seller Insights, a card our Chrome extension adds to meesho.com product pages, shows that product's price, MRP and discount as the page lists them; its sales figures are estimates, never Meesho's numbers. How to find products to sell on Meesho compares price ranges before you buy stock.
The description of Meesho's June 2022 Masterclass gives its own pricing strategy: similar prices to the top ten listings, and a price of supplier cost plus margin plus GST. That leaves out returns, ads and per-order charges, so treat it as a starting point.
Meesho's Smart Pricing is an opt-in tool that adjusts prices automatically and lets you set a minimum price, per the description of its March 2025 video (read on 15 October 2026). If you opt in, set that minimum from your floor.
How to set Meesho price and MRP, and what discounts change
MRP is the maximum retail price. Meesho's Legal Metrology lesson (archive copy of 14 July 2024) says the MRP you enter must match the label and your listed price cannot be higher, so enter the real MRP. If the per-size table has a Wrong / Defective Return Discount column, Meesho's March 2022 video describes the feature as a second, lower price for customers who can return only a wrong or defective item. Check whether your form asks for a price or a rupee discount, then run the sum for both prices.
Discounts change what you are paid. As read on 15 October 2026, the description of Meesho's Review Page video says Check Discounts shows the final payout breakdown before a sale, with a way to edit or opt out. Rerun the sum at the discounted price; the festive sale checklist covers the time limit and sale weeks.
